With a layer of sweet apples and raisins in between gorgeous golden honeyed oats, these squares are absolutely perfect with a cup of tea

Ingredients:

225g self-raising flour
225g rolled oats
225g Kerrygold Honey Spread
225g sugar
110g raisins
2 tbsp golden syrup
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
2 dessert apples, peeled, cored and finely chopped

method:

  • Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4. In a bowl, mix together the flour, the oats and the bicarbonate of soda.
  • Place a saucepan on a medium-low heat, add the honey spread, sugar and golden syrup and stir together for a few minutes until it has melted and dissolved.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir into the flour and oat mixture. Press half the mixture into a greased and lined square tin.
  • Mix together the apples and raisins then sprinkle over the mixture in the tin and spread the remaining oat mixture on top.
  • Place in the oven and bake the biscuits for about 30 minutes until golden, then leave to cool for a few minutes before cutting into squares and placing on a wire rack to cool.
